God Is A Good Shepherd! Haiti Needs God's goodness, Not Judgment!

Many are confused about why a poor nation like Haiti has been devastated. Some have blamed God. Others say God allowed it so it must be His will. That is like you going out and robbing a bank then saying God allowed it so it must be His will. God is a good God! In this article I want to share about His goodness.
God revealed through the life of Jesus Christ is one of mercy and benevolence. It is written in the last verse of Psalm 23, "Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever." God is a good and merciful Shepherd.In Luke 10:30-37, there is a man who left Jerusalem for Jericho, but met some robbers on the way; he was disrobed, beaten and left for dead. Bloodied and lying on the ground, he waited for help. A high priest was passing by. With great expectation, he called out to the high priest with all his strength. The high priest shook his head from side to side and passed by him. A high priest was a teacher of the Law and performed religious functions. The Law functioned to accuse those who had broken it and to levy punishment upon the lawbreakers. As such, the high priest naturally looked upon the man through the eye of the Law and scolded him for his carelessness which led to his being attacked by robbers. He could not do any more than that. The injured man was in despair. As the man lay dying from his wounds, it must have been devastating to be scolded rather than to be helped. Soon a Levite came walking by. The dying man shouted out to the Levite for help. The Levite saw the man, performed some religious ritual, and passed by on the other side. Levites were those who performed certain religious rituals, nothing more or less. Although they may sprinkle some holy water and decorate dead people with flowers, they could not bring them back to life. As such, the injured man was again in despair. With his life on the line, what good was a religious ceremony? Some time later, a Samaritan came walking by. It is written in Luke 10:33-34, "But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him." The Samaritan here symbolizes Jesus Christ who came to have mercy upon the man. When you wear the "looking glass" of the Law, all you can see are faults. You cannot see other things. The Law seeks out the faults of people and accuses them. As such, a person who uses the looking glass of the Law can only find faults. However, when you wear the looking glass of mercy, such faults are covered over. All people are able to see the faults of other children, but unable to see the faults of their own. When they look upon other children, they wear the looking glass of the Law, while wearing the looking glass of mercy for their own children, enabling them to cover over and ignore their faults. The Samaritan did not look upon the man through the looking glass of the Law. Therefore, he did not scold the injured man nor turn away. He did not turn away after a simple religious ceremony like the Levite. The Samaritan looked upon the man with mercy and pity. To a man on the verge of death, the most necessary thing is help. As such, the Samaritan applied first aid. He poured oil and wine on the wounds, bound him, put him on his own donkey, and took him to an inn. This Samaritan was a good man. The Bible tells us that Jesus Christ is a good man. Sheep are not only weak, but once they are lost they lack the ability to find their way back home. Without a shepherd, they cannot survive. Other animals are able to find their way back home, but sheep are not able. The Bible says that each of us have gone our own way, but that our sins were placed upon Jesus Christ. It is written in 1 Peter 2:25, "For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls." Sheep get lost. They lack a homing instinct. Once they go on a path, they cannot return. It is the same with people. Having departed from God, people lack the ability to return. Without a homing instinct, they go further down the road of sin. Just as sheep must be guided by a shepherd, God becomes the Shepherd who seeks us out and saves us from sin to bring us back into His arms. To do so, the Son of God, Jesus Christ, came to find people lost in sin and bring them back home. Our good God takes pity upon us and heals us of the illnesses which we suffer due to Satan's oppression. It is written in Matthew 4:23, "Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people."Jesus who spread the message of the gospel of heaven and healed the sick was indeed a good God. God is a good Shepherd, He overflowed with mercy and goodness. Many are confused about Haiti. My message is simple; God is a Good Shepherd! Evil prevails when good people do nothing...God is good and I believe that you are good -:)
